TblTp Drift | Review

First things first, I LOVE THIS GAME.

Table Top Racing is as close a return to the classic Micro Machines series as we’re going to get these days. There’s even a top down camera angle, to relive those ‘racing around the toilet seat’ moments from your childhood.

It’s bright, colourful, fun & full of charm. Fair enough, it does nothing original, X is accelerate, O brake and there’s a small amount of weapons to slow the progress of your opponents, which you fire with – surprise surprise, R. However, for all of this, the game itself is great!

There are a decent amount of modes, plenty of ‘cars’

I say cars loosely, there’s a rabbit-mobile

& upgrades to collect. Which will take a fair few hours to round up, but the place I’ve spent most my time over the last few nights has been ‘Drift Mode’. I don’t need to really explain what you have to achieve here, the title says it all.

It’s a perfect ‘just one more go’ mode, where a few minutes become hours as you chase the illusive 300K+ points trophy. Even after surpassing that score, you want more. I am desperately trying to knock out a drift worth more than that, but so far seem to have hit the ceiling at 160K…

For the relatively small asking price, this game is more than worth it. Table Top Racing is the perfect pick-up-and-play game, whether you have a spare 10 minutes at lunch, or want to kill an hour in the evening you can’t go far wrong!
