Looting, Shooting & Fighting Tears…

So, yesterday was a pretty quiet day, in real life. However, in The Last of Us’ post apocalyptic world, it was a different story!

With the weather crappy – which is a given on a british bank holiday – I decided to spend the majority of my day sneaking around abandoned houses, hostile holiday villages & beaten up bus stations, looking for parts to upgrade my flamethrower & tablets to enable me to make a bomb just that little bit quicker…

The best part about this game for me is the setting, the exploration of a world torn apart by humankind fighting to survive. I spent hours upon hours crawling in the bushes and through sewers for those hard to find collectibles to get me that one bit closer to the elusive Platinum trophy. Part of me wishes Naughty Dog spent even more time creating empty office blocks & shopping centres, just so I could wander round, imagining to myself what the world would really be like if this happened…

Anyway, upon reaching the game’s final destination, around midnight & picking up the final artefact, comic and unlocking the last shiv door the trophies began to pop… about 7 in total! What a great feeling! Completely ruined by the game’s sombre, tear-jerking last 5 minutes… Oh Joel…

On my last journey, on PS3, I only unlocked 5% of trophies, now – boom, I’m at 49%! The Platinum will be mine, there’s just a small matter of a Survivor+ run through… Wish me luck in those bins again guys!

Where in the world of gaming are you guys spending Bank Holiday? – Comments are always appreciated 🙂

  1. So you play on the PS4? and all these beautiful captures are using the screenshot function? thats very cool Sir. I played a little bit of this game found it beautiful and very emotional.

I find games like this.. and Uncharted (Loved Uncharted 3).. like your watching a movie unfold before you and get to be the main character pretty cool!

But I also find them unchallenging and it doesn’t keep me motivated to play. Although I did play through Uncharted twice 🙂

    1. I think I preferred TLOU to Uncharted. They were good, but half way through 3 I got a little bored… I think Naughty Dog are great at making games though! Can’t wait for what’s next to come! Do you not have a PS4 yet?..

    1. Sounds good – I’m not overly hyped for Destiny… More so for Driveclub, sorry, #DRIVECLUB as they want us to shout! TLOU on PS4 is pretty damn awesome, enjoying it more this time as I have less gaming distractions…

      I went for a Lion 🙂
